Dealer Expo rich in all-terrain product

The Dealer Expo in Indianapolis again served up a platter full of goodies for ATV dealers and customers. In recent years, the growing trend in the ATV segment of the industry has proven to be sport models, and we found plenty of ways to give these high-performance quads a different look or a boost in power. Still, the largest percentage of units sold in the ATV market are utility machines, and there proved to be a number of intriguing products for them, as well.

SPORT
R.I.S. Designs specializes in sand ATV accessories, including a custom four-legged hub. Made from 6061 T-6 billet aluminum, the hubs mount to the stock spindle and come with custom Douglas Wheel rims. Two- and three-legged hubs were designed to reduce weight for sand drag racing. They also come with custom wheels and can be made to fit any machine, but are not recommended for normal riding conditions.

MAXXIS IRAZR
Maxxis International offers front and rear iRazr tires. These rubbers use radial construction to increase ride comfort and reduce bump steer. Both six-ply tires use a new tread design compared to the older Razr design and claim to offer responsive steering and superb braking abilities.
Maxxis says the radial design creates a larger contact patch and improves acceleration. Fronts are available in 21 x 7-10 and 22 x 7-10. Rear iRazrs are available in 20 x 11-9 and 20 x 11-10 sizes. Maxxis now has four styles of Razr tires for both MX and woods applications.

TIRE BALLS
This tire inflation system is the must-have product for anyone planning to race in 2004. Tire Balls uses specially designed inflation cells that support the tire instead of a normal inner tube filled with air or foam insert. Each individual cell is chosen and adjusted to the correct inflation spec prior to installation. Tire Balls are the modern-day flat-proof system that also aid in traction and suspension. The material used in construction the Tire Balls is 10 times stronger than a traditional inner tube.
Tire Balls are available for both ATVs and dirt bikes.Tire Balls have been used by race team in GNCC racing and ATV endurance events like the Baja 1000 and the Maxxis 12 Hours of America. Special tools and supplies are required and specific mounting instruction must be followed to insure the inflation system functions properly.

ITP HOLESHOT H-D
ITP calls the Holeshot H-D its tallest 20-inch tire. This six-ply tire has a wide format and is designed to excel in wet, rutted riding conditions. Uses a stepped shoulder knob design that effectively should improve side bite and control in ruts. The lugs are spaced further apart and designed to supply added traction in wet conditions. A sturdy sidewall was added to increase puncture resistance. Currently the Holeshot H-D is being developed in a 20 x 11-9 and 20 x 11-10 rear design.
ITP used feedback from Grand National Cross Country pro riders Chad Duvall and William Yokley to help develop the Holeshot H-D. The tires should be available by April.

Pro Armor’s Shok-SpotR helmet-mounted, calibrated sensor was designed to inform ATV and dirt bike riders that a helmet has received significant damage from an impact. This item works as a point-of-purchase display for helmet buyers. Anyone with a helmet can add this device and be warned a helmet has received enough of a blow to limit the amount of protection it was originally rated at.
