ATV Sport magazine sponsors race

ATV Sport magazine signed on to sponsor Fast-Trak Promotions’ Maxxis 12 Hours of ATV America race in October.
This is a unique 12-hour endurance race that pits teams of riders against one another. It runs in two six-hour sessions — one at night — on one track with a motocross, TT and woods section.
Fast-Track Promotion’s John Pellan said he will have the largest Pro purse in the history of the sport; a whopping $30,000 is on the line.

Indiana opens First State-Sponsored off-road Ride Park
A 600 acre site in southern Indiana, the Redbird State OHV Park, has become the first state-sanctioned ride park for Indiana’s OHV riders. Formerly known as Redbird, riders have been secretly using the area since the 1970s.
The park contains the remains of a 1940-era coal mine and features lots of steep inclines and muddy swamps. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources decided a few years ago to begin the process of legitimizing the site to make a safe area for riders.
After years of determined work, the IDNR and local activists, the area had its grand opening in June.
Funding for Redbird comes from three areas: registration fees paid by vehicle owners to ride on designated public areas, recreational Trail Program federal funds from gasoline taxes paid by OHV users, and daily riding fees paid by visitors to Redbird State Riding Area.
Matt Bartosek Memorial Fund
The friends, family and sponsors of late professional ATV racer Matt Bartosek are raffling a loaded 2003 Suzuki Z400 at the 2003 ATVA/ITP Nationals Banquet. Tickets for the Matt Bartosek Memorial Fund are $10 each and the winner need not be present to win.
Tickets can be obtained at any of the ATVA/ITP National events. The money will go into this permanent endowment fund for future use in furthering the sport of ATV racing. A race in Matt’s honor was held July 18-20, at a track called Pyamatuning Holeshot Raceway, near Linesville, Pa. For more info on the raffle, e-mail DB250R@aol.com or BarEng@aol.com.
Minnesota ATV updates Web site
In order to relay important information to its members, the ATV Association of Minnesota (ATVAM) extensively redesigned its Web site.
Now any alerts or other information can make it to all members of the group more effectively. Also, people can renew memberships easily through the site. The site also is host to a page devoted to the ATVAM fall convention, which is held each year in northern Minnesota.
More updates are planned for the site. Visit the site at www.atvam.org.
