Tucker Rocky sees consumer spending as biggest challenge

The only thing that worried him during the past year, said Bill Carter, was what he described as a slowdown in consumer spending.
As vice president of marketing and planning for Tucker Rocky Distributing of Ft. Worth, Texas, a part of Carter’s assignment is to gauge the industry and capitalize on it by responding with strategic changes to the distributor’s operation.
Carter spoke with Powersports Business following TR’s annual QuadBoss Product Preview and ATV Retreat, in late June in Keystone, Colo.
“We’ve just started our major seasons for ATV and off-road, and the product and brands we showcased recently were overwhelmingly well received,” Carter said. “So, to be honest, the greatest challenge we’ve faced this year is just the slowing of consumer spending.
“For 2004, like everyone else, we’re hoping the retail consumer dollars come back strong. But we can’t impact that ourselves. So, we’ll continue to accelerate the changes we’re making to enhance how dealers do business with TR, making it easier and more profitable for all.”
