April 21, 2003 – Ryan Young sponsors AMA

AMA Sports and Ryan Young Products have reached an agreement to extend the company’s title sponsorship of the AMA/NATC Ryan Young Products National Championship Observed Trials Series through the 2003 racing season.
“Last year we stepped up and took the challenge of becoming the first-ever title sponsor of the AMA/NATC National Championship Observed Trials Series,” said Ryan Young, six-time AMA National Champion and founder of Ryan Young Products, a distributor serving the trials, enduro, ATV, flat-track, and dual-sport markets. “We’re back again, not only because it was an overall success, but because we believe that supporting the sport is important to our company.”
Bill Amick, vice president of AMA Sports, said “AMA Sports is excited to be working again with both Ryan Young Products and the NATC for the upcoming season. The support that Ryan and his company give the series makes a big difference, and we’re looking forward to more exposure this year.”
The 2003 AMA/NATC Ryan Young Products National Championship Observed Trials Series will open on April 25 and 26 in Pomona, Calif., with the finals scheduled for August 9 and 10 in Davis, Calif. — 13 rounds in all, three more than the 2002 series.
Ryan Young Products, founded in 1996, sells it products through 285 dealers nationwide. For more information about the distributor, visit www.rypusa.com or call 800/607-8742.
New dealer rep group
Synergy Sales and Marketing, Inc.
, is a new independent dealer rep organization headed by Brian Cornelius, formerly of K&N.
“What we are going to be is support/supply for independent reps,” Chris Gabel, national sales director, told Powersports Business. “We’re not involved with inventory, we’re just involved with supporting and informing reps out there —giving them the manufacturers to represent. They’re going to take their orders and send them to us, and we will then send them directly to the manufacturer, and the manufacturer will send the orders dealer-direct.”
Gabel says Synergy is focusing on assembling a list of manufacturers to work with. He said eight have been lined up, but says the firm is looking for between 12 and 20.
“We’re aiming for high-profile, great quality product where the manufacturer can offer an ample supply,” he said. “We’re not looking for exclusives, and we don’t want to carry five exhaust systems. But, at the same time, we want to have a nice variety for people to choose from.”
Gabel says Synergy, which officially launched operations on March 1, does not want to compete with Parts Unlimited or Tucker Rocky, but hopes to serve as another option for dealers.
“We’re just hoping to make the dealer-direct market a lot more efficient,” he said. “It’s going to be three or four weeks before we get out there and really go live. I have between six and eight reps that are waiting for us to complete set-up.”
