FMF to enter sport bike pipe market

FMF Racing, Rancho Dominguez, Calif., said it plans to enter the sport bike exhaust market with a new line of aluminum and titanium silencers scheduled to be available by riding season.
Doug Muellner, FMF’s national sales manager, says the Powercore S Streetbike Exhaust is designed to fit most late model 600cc to 1000cc Japanese sport bikes, including the R1, R6, GSXRs, ZX6, ZX7, ZX9, CBR600F4 and 954, among others.
Muellner says FMF used its 30 years of industry experience with a variety of powersports vehicles to develop the Powercore S.
“We adapted some of what we learned in creating our revolutionary four-stroke off-road exhausts to create these applications,” Muellner told Powersports Business. “A hands-on, long-term history of dyno testing and development is tough to beat.”
The Powercore S, which will initially only be a slip-on, is to be mounted in traditional fashion and will be available in titanium (natural, blue, gold) and “non-glossy” aluminum. The titanium version features a unique “oval to round” canister to house FMF’s secret for improved flow and to provide extra clearance.
Expected to be available by mid to late March, the system will be displayed on various bikes in an FMF booth — #2205 or #2633 — at the Dealer Expo. However, in an effort to assure “strong consumer recognition and sell-through,” Muellner says, “dealers can expect an aggressive FMF marketing campaign associated with this new product.”
Other new FMF product Muellner says dealers can expect to see at the Expo include, but are not limited to, the Powerline mufflers for ATVs, FMF Jet Kits, “and the next level in sophisticated, and needed, muffler packing.”
The complete line-up of new product can be viewed in FMF’s new 83-page catalog, which includes a “Features and Benefits” page for each product group, representative dyno charts, and application sections color-coded by vehicle brand.
