New York State sued over PWC emission regs

An organization known as the New York Public Interest Research Group has sued the State of New York for failing to establish PWC air emissions regulations scheduled to be adopted in September 2001.
The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation is required to adopt regulations that would reduce personal watercraft emissions by 50% by Sept. 8, 2001. The events of Sept. 11, 2001, delayed the DEC’s actions, but lawyers for the NYPIRG argued the issue still should have been resolved earlier.
The DEC expects the PWC rules to be available for public review very shortly.

New PWC Insurance Underwriter
PWC owners will soon have another avenue for insurance coverage. The St. Paul Companies has formed a new underwriting operation which includes PWC. Specialty Commercial, a unit of The St. Paul Companies, will manage program business directly and act as a resource for this type of business throughout the company.
