There’s an online equivalent to Black Friday

karin_web2“It” isn’t just another computer term coined by Gen Y. And by the accounts of a recent retail sales survey, “it” is known by more than three-fourths of online shoppers as an unofficial holiday.

“It” is “Cyber Monday,” the Monday after Thanksgiving, and it’s recognized as one of the biggest online shopping days of the year. Last year alone, 84.6 million shopped online on that particular day.

About 4-5 years ago retailers began to notice a spike in online sales on that Monday, which can be attributed to people not wanting to fight the crowds or people not finding what they were looking for in the stores.

If you only update your Web site once a year, do it in the next month. That’s when you’re most likely to get large amounts of traffic. Also, consider a special promotion for Cyber Monday because consumers will be looking – and in the spending mode.

We’re curious: Did anybody run Cyber Monday specials last year?

  1. Hey Karin! what’s going! This is Dean from Tank Sports. How you been?

Yes, we ran Cyber Monday sales two years in a roll. Didn’t have much success because we guessed that dealers are actually spending time with their family.

Hope to see you this year in Indy!

    Cheers!

  2. We ran holiday specials at ATV Wagon 2 years running with positive results. One of our secrets is we allowed the sale to run a week before and after Thanksgiving. We got the ‘planners’ and the ‘procrastinators’. Note your offer must be truly something great or it will not work well.
