Cobra Powersports Sets Sales Record

Leaders at Cobra Powersports, Kennesaw, Ga., say the company’s sales during the first nine months of 2006 exceeded sales realized during all of last year.
“We sold three times as many scooters in the first 10 months of 2006 than we did in 2005,” said Ed Hyslip, Director of Service for Cobra Powersports, without providing unit sales figures.
“We had a great start in 2006 because we had the only 49cc two-stroke 2006 EPA certified scooter to sell and we increased our warranty to two years,” added Bill Peirce, Cobra CEO. “Consumers want the powerful two-strokes and we were the only company to have them available. Then the fuel prices went up and our sales went through the roof because commuters were buying vehicles that would save them money on gas. It took us several months to catch up to the demand.”
The exclusive distributor of TGB (Taiwan Golden Bee) products in the United States and Caribbean Islands, Cobra Powersports expanded its dealer network in 2006 to include over 200 retailers. Company officials expect to add another 100 powersports dealers in 2007.
Founded in 1978, TGB is a Taiwan-based manufacturer of scooters, ATVs and OEM parts, whose customers include Piaggio, Suzuki, and Peugeot.
TGB 49cc and 151cc scooters are EPA-certified for 2007 and legal in all 50 states.
