Asian Cycle Organizations Meet in Japan

Sixty-one members of the Federation of Asian Motorcycle Industries (FAMI) recently convened in Sapporo City, Japan, to discuss the global motorcycle industry and confirm the organization’s plans for the coming year.
FAMI member associations include the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), the Motorcycle Distributors Association of Malaysia (MASAAM), the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association of the Philippines (MDPPA), the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Singapore Motor Cycle Trade Association (SMCTA), the Thai Automotive Industry Association (TAIA), and the Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Association (TTVMA).
Dr. W. Wisoot, chairman of FAMI’s Research and Planning Committee, said FAMI-affiliated countries accounted for 10.3 million units or more than 25 percent of the world motorcycle market in 2004.
Event participants also heard fro the organization’s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Task Force, Information Task Force and Road Safety Task Force.
