Manheim Buys Indy Auction Facility
Auction company Manheim purchased an 86-acre auction facility in Indianapolis from Auction Broadcasting Company, LLC (ABC). The six-year-old six-lane facility, complete with a full reconditioning area, serves powersports and auto dealers across the Midwest.
All of the roughly 140 ABC employees are expected to join Manheim.
Manheim President and CEO Dean Eisner said the company plans to customize the facility with Manheim Simulcast wireless technology to support condition reporting and other aspects of the operation.
A wholly owned subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, Atlanta-based Manheim operates 89 locations in North America. Manheim now has three operating locations in Indiana, including the new ABC location in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne Vehicle Auction in Fort Wayne and Louisville Auto Auction in Clarksville.
The ABC acquisition is the third new auction location for Manheim in as many months. In May, Manheim acquired Southwest Florida Auto Auction, Fort Myers, Fla., and purchased Auction City, Inc., Halifax, Nova Scotia, which has been renamed Manheim’s Auction City – Halifax.
Manheim sold more than 5 million used powersports vehicles, cars and trucks in 2005, when it handled nearly 10 million units worth more than $50 billion.
