Tornado Rally Whips Up Wichita
More than 30,000 motorcycle enthusiasts visited downtown Wichita on June 10-11 to take part in the second Tornado Rally, an event sponsored by Kansas-based Big Dog Motorcycles.
Although Big Dog Motorcycles was the presenting sponsor of the Tornado Rally, the event was for all motorcycle enthusiasts, regardless of brand-affiliation. Approximately 15,000 visitors attended the 2005 inaugural event.
The dramatic increase in attendance was complemented with an equally substantial increase in exhibitors and vendors. Activities and attractions took place under sunny skies along five city blocks near Big Dog’s 175,000 sq.-ft. headquarters and included approximately 100 vendors, celebrity custom builders, six free concerts, charity poker runs, factory tours, trials display, bikini contest and more. ESPN2 even was on site to capture the event for a national television segment to air later this summer.
