Snowmobile Pioneer Retires

Edgar Hetteen, the 84-year-old founder of Polaris and Arctic Cat, has retired from his position as vice president and secretary of ASV Inc., Grand rapids, Minn.
ASV, which manufactures rubber-tracked equipment, has 230 employees and yearly sales of $161 million. Hetteen founded ASV in 1983 with Gary Lemke, who remains chairman and CEO. Hetteen officially left the company following an annual meeting June 1.
Hetteen often is referred to as the grandfather of snowmobiling. The three companies he founded now have 5,293 employees and annual sales of $2.6 billion.
