Missouri Harley-Davidson dealership changes name

After 30 years of business, Surdyke Harley-Davidson of South Festus, Missouri is undergoing a name change. The dealership will now go by Tim Surdyke’s Gold Star Harley-Davidson. According to an email released by the dealership, the new name will honor owner Tim Surdyke’s late son, Tom, who passed away in 2016 while saving the life of another young man. For Thomas’ heroic actions, the U.S. Army awarded him the Soldier’s Medal, their highest non-combat honor, and our family the Gold Star, a symbol of sacrifice and the Army’s commitment to families of the fallen.

The dealership also announced that moving forward, it will donate 10 percent of all profits to the Cadet Thomas Surdyke Memorial Foundation. The Foundation was established in 2017 to develop young leaders of character and provide schools and organizations with character development programs. The Foundation currently offers three scholarships through St. Pius X High School in Festus, where Tom attended high school, with plans of expanding.
The dealership has already started its support of the Cadet Thomas Surdyke Memorial Foundation by donating our “Black Ops II” customized Street Glide Special. The Foundation is raffling this beautiful Harley, valued at over $50,000, with the hopes of raising $150,000 to support its mission. The new name was unveiled May 19 at the dealership, the focal point of an all-day a promotional event.
