Can-Am racers find success in South Carolina GNCC race

Can-Am off-road racers won the prestigious XC1 Pro Turbo UTV and 4×4 Pro ATV classes this past weekend at the 2018 Camp Coker Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) race in Society Hill, S.C. Along with four additional ATV class victories on the day, more than 20 Can-Am racers reached the podium in their respective classes.

Round five of the GNCC series also hosted the third leg of the six-race GNCC UTV racing circuit. Can-Am side-by-side vehicle racers had won two of the first three events, proving the Maverick X3 is the industry’s most formidable side-by-side for those serious about performance.

Kyle Chaney, a two-time GNCC UTV champion and reigning The Off-Road Championship (TORC) series SxS Pro Mod title holder, used the Maverick X3 X ds to its full extent on a dusty wooded course this past Saturday, at the Camp Coker GNCC in South Carolina. The talented pro racer and XPS athlete fought his way out of a row-three start to take over the lead by the end of lap one (on adjusted time). From there, Chaney extended his lead after each lap, outrunning everyone to easily earn his first win of 2018.

“I knew with the dusty track conditions that it was going to be a tough race to win,” said Chaney. “I stayed aggressive and trusted my Can-Am Maverick X3 to take us the finish.”

Can-Am Maverick X3 X ds side-by-side racer Hunter Miller, last season’s runner-up finisher in the XC1 Pro Turbo UTV class, and navigator Adam McGill had another successful GNCC race, earning their third straight podium finish. The second-place run extended Miller’s class points lead to 13 over fellow Can-Am Maverick X xc racer Jamie McCoy, who finished third in South Carolina.

In ATV action, factory Can-Am racer and two-time defending 4×4 Pro ATV class champion Kevin Cunningham maintained his perfect season with another solid victory. He has won all five ATV events on the season with his precision-engineered Can-Am Renegade X xc 1000R ATV. Can-Am racers, who swept the 4×4 Pro class podium, also won four additional 4×4 classes and had numerous amateur racers earn a top-three finish in their respective class.
