Now in its 6th year, the Powersports Business Power 50 is the longest running dealer awards program of its kind. The Powersports Business editorial staff of Dave McMahon, Kate Swanson and Jimmy Gilligan select the Power 50 dealers based on extensive reviews of the dealer applications. No industry consultants, fellow dealers, or anyone else reviews the applications.

Sarah McVean of Freedom Powersports accepted the 2017 No. 1 Dealer Award at the Power 50 Awards Dinner in Columbus, Ohio.

“The goal from Day 1 when we launched the program is to provide dealers with an educational tool that helps them self-assess the state of their dealership,” McMahon said. “The feedback we receive from dealers who complete the application is most often along the lines of ‘Thanks for doing this. It’s a great way to see where we went last year and where we need to get to this year.’ We’re hopeful that by completing the application, dealerships are able to use the knowledge to take steps forward in areas like profitability, customer experience and growing the powersports rider base.”

As always, the 2018 Power 50 will be celebrated during AIMExpo. The 2018 Power 50 Dealer Awards dinner will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

In addition to announcing the No. 1 dealer for 2018, Powersports Business will rank the top 10 dealerships as part of recognizing all 50 dealers. Best in Class Awards will be handed out in a variety of categories.

The Power 50 No. 1 dealership for 2017 was Freedom Powersports. Dealerships in the Power 50 Hall of Fame as two-time winners are GO AZ Motorcycles and Logan Powersports Group.

New to the application process in 2018, each individual dealership will be required to submit its own application. No composite applications from dealership groups will be accepted.

“It’s yet another way for the Power 50 to celebrate each individual dealership’s principal, general manager and staff,” McMahon said. “We want potential customers to know that by going into a specific dealership, they will experience a supreme buying experience.”
