Maxim makes retailing an inviting journey

Power 50 dealership guides customers through the store

Maxim Honda Yamaha in the Dallas suburb of Allen, Texas, leaves no doubt as to where to turn upon entering the store. An easily recognizable pathway on the showroom floor guides customers around the dealership, from the newly acquired Zero Motorcycles franchise, all the way through an impressive full lineup of Honda, Yamaha and CFMOTO products.

The PG&A department is a gem, with perfectly placed helmets and accessories providing an inviting shopping experience. General manager Matt Maschmann and his staff have capitalized on the growing side-by-side market in part by showcasing a UTV in its proper place — the dirt. The UTV sits in an area enclosed by decorative bricks, with dirt and rocks providing an ideal visual for the prospective buyer. In addition, Traxxas radio control products get heavy billing, as does a section for Central Scooters, a freestyle scooter profit center.

Of course, the best time to be at Maxim is in the fall for the dealership’s annual Kid’s Charity dinner auction and ride, the store’s largest event of the year. The dealership, formerly Plano Honda, has been in operation since 1983, having added Yamaha in 2013.

A 2015 Powersports Business Power 50 selection, Maxim Honda Yamaha invited PSB to take a closer look at the retail environment in the nearly 32,000 square-foot store in north Dallas.
