Production begins for new Ducati cruiser

News Release

Production of the new Ducati XDiavel has commenced. The first cruiser made by the Bologna-based manufacturer came off the production line on Dec. 10 and, as happens with the launch of any new model, Ducati’s CEO, Claudio Domenicali, was there to welcome it.

The XDiavel, winner of the “Most beautiful bike of the show” award at EICMA 2015, represents the union of two different worlds: the cruiser world characterized by low speeds, highly relaxing rides and long journeys, together with the world of Ducati with its Italian style, technical refinement and the highest levels of performance.

The XDiavel ensures the “low speed excitement” typical of a cruiser and the adrenaline rush of sports riding that Ducati has made its own. That’s what the X in XDiavel stands for: the merging of two apparently separate, distant worlds on one bike, a superb combination where both are accomplished without compromise.

5,000, 60, 40. Three numbers that sum up the XDiavel concept. 5,000 as in the rpm at which the twin-cylinder engine achieves maximum torque (13.1 kgm). 60, as in the number of different ergonomic configurations for the rider. Lastly, 40, as in the maximum attainable lean angle.

The XDiavel is the first Ducati to use belt-driven final drive – a must in the world of cruisers. The Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) together with the Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Riding Modes, Bosch ABS Cornering, Cruise Control and the innovative Ducati Power Launch (DPL) together make the XDiavel a technologically advanced, high-performance and, above all, safe motorcycle. The XDiavel is also available in the S version.

The XDiavel and XDiavel S versions of the new Ducati cruiser will be available at Ducati dealerships starting from February 2016 onwards (country specific).

  1. Looks a lot more chopper than cruiser. Especially from what I can imagine as the riding position. My idea what a “cruiser” should be is like the Honda Magna. Isn’t anyone into comfort anymore besides the behemoth Gold Wing?
