Report: Arctic Cat countersuit dropped over patent infringement

In 2013, Polaris Industries first sued Plymouth-based Arctic Cat over alleged patent violations, particularly side-by-side technology used in the development of Arctic Cat’s Wildcat side-by-sides.

According to the Star Tribune, Arctic Cat filed a countersuit in response, with the belief that “only some of Polaris’ designs were patented and claimed that although patents for other technologies were filed in 2006, they were not officially issued as of Sept. 9, 2014.”

In a ruling on Tuesday, August 4, the court dismissed Arctic Cat’s claim and Polaris’ original patent infringement lawsuit remains intact.
