Power Tune Performance System takes next step
Bruce Tessmer, marketing projects coordinator for S&S Cycle, might have been joking when he told Powersports Business that S&S Cycle makes the “best engines in the world. I’ll say that unqualified, because that’s the way it is, and for anyone who disagrees, I’ll knock ’em upside the head with a 2 by 4!”
But in all seriousness, Tessmer says the new Power Tune Performance System should be a sign to dealers that S&S Cycle means business in 2015 and beyond.
“Dealers are probably thinking ‘Wow, these guys are serious about this,’” Tessmer said during the V-Twin Expo in Cincinnati. “We make so many things and are not known as an exhaust company, but these people have to understand, in order to make power with our stuff, you have to have good exhaust. We’re serious about the exhaust business, but we’re serious about the whole package.”
All Tessmer needed to do was recall the first time he heard the header system on a Softail on a dyno.
“Wow, that takes the wrinkles out,” he laughed.
The Power Tune Performance System also enhances stock bikes, and dealers were taking note, Tessmer added. The Power Tune Performance Exhaust lineup features innovative additions to the current lineup of S&S products. Riders benefit from substantial improvements across the power band thanks to meticulous engineering in conjunction with tuners and specific header systems, Tessmer said.
With the new Power Tune Performance Exhaust, S&S devotes equal attention to sound and aesthetics, ensuring that these exhausts sound and look just right while making sure they improve a bike’s overall execution.
Because S&S has the performance dialed in so well, staffers spent much of V-Twin Expo asking dealers what they like about the look of the systems that are in the works.
“We can make it perform. We just gotta know what people want it to look like,” he said.
It’s all part of S&S Cycle’s goal of making its high-performing engines perform even better.
“Our engines are not going to run right if they don’t have the right exhaust, the right intakes, the right cams,” Tessmer said. “The Power Tune Performance System is kind of like our 4 Step, except that it encompasses more things. So we’re starting with one-piece exhaust complete systems for Dynas and Softails. With the mufflers and intake, you’re going to pick up 10 horsepower, just like that.”
