Among the models shown by Yamaha at EICMA was a three-wheel concept scooter that will be introduced in 2014.
The Tricity is Yamaha’s Leaning Multi-Wheel scooter, powered by a 125cc 4-stroke engine mated to an automatic transmission. The vehicle features two wheels in the front and one in the rear. It’s designed to attract scooter and non-scooter riders alike.
The model that was on display at EICMA was very close in specifications and performance to the final production model. Yamaha says the new scooter is significantly lighter and more compact than existing three-wheel scooters. The Tricity will be the first in a line of affordable, agile, compact, light and practical new models. Those vehicles will be introduced starting in 2014, with no word on whether they’ll be available in the U.S.
