Parsons to host Bob’s Biker Blast for charity

Arizona dealership owner plans three-day event

The second annual Bob’s Biker Blast promises to be a weekend of “more” — more food, more music, more stunts, more bikes. Joining the ranks of the GoDaddy holiday party but open to the general public, the three-day event hosted by Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale, Go AZ Motorcycles and entrepreneur and philanthropist Bob Parsons is a chance for bikers, wanna-be bikers, bike enthusiasts and music lovers to have a “blast” and help make a difference.

The second annual event will be held Oct. 11-13 and will feature headline performances by blues rock legend Grand Funk Railroad and country music star Gary Allan.

The three-day event kicks-off Friday evening at Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale with food, drinks, live music by Aero Train, mechanical bull riding and a fashion show.

Saturday’s daytime event includes live local music, food trucks and activities across the 14-acre motorcycle campus, as well as a special appearance and autograph signing by Mark Boone Junior, “Bobby” from “Sons of Anarchy.”

A crowd of 10,000 attended Bob Parson’s first annual Bob’s Biker Blast in 2012 at Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale and Go AZ Motorcycles.

Concert gates open at 4 p.m. Pre-show entertainment includes a Twin Peaks Bikini Contest and performances by School of Rock and Girls Nite Out. Two custom motorcycles — a Triumph Bonneville Café Custom and a 2014 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim — will be given-away by Parsons before Gary Allan takes the stage.

Motorcycle endorsement is good for free concert admission for the rider plus one passenger. For all others there will be a $20 requested donation.

“You know, we’re not here for a long time; we’re here for a good time,” party grand marshal Parsons said. “Between the bikes, grub and kick-ass performances, there is not much else a person could ask for, except maybe to benefit a great cause … and we are doing that too!”

One-hundred percent of ticket sales and all proceeds raised will benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital, which will celebrate its 30th birthday this year. To help celebrate the lives saved over the last 30 years, admission will be free for Phoenix Children’s Hospital alumni.

Sunday, bikers will rally at the dealerships for an early morning charitable poker run. Phoenix Children’s Hospital patients and alumni will participate in the ride, dealing hands and offering high-fives.

Extreme motorcycle stunts by Hollywood stunt rider and Speed Channel host Jason Britton will take center stage and have thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies grasping the demo track barricade Sunday afternoon. The all-ages event will also feature performances by Team Arizona’s freestyle motocross team, Sunday football on 60-inch screens, a beer garden and food.

Go AZ retails BMW, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Triumph, Vespa, Ural and Aprilia.
