Kawasaki on Friday unveiled two new motorcycles, three new Teryx side-by-sides and four new Jet Skis at it dealer meeting in San Diego.
The 2014 Ninja 1000 ABS has received significant updates for the new model year. Its upgraded 1,043cc inline-four with DFI now offers more power and torque. The new KTRC Traction Control system features three modes, plus off, for maximum performance and enhanced comfort. Selectable Power Modes give riders a choice between full power and about 70 percent power output, and a taller six gear provides a more relaxed highway ride. The new one-piece “monobloc” radial-mount front brake calipers deliver superb braking power and control, as well as a premium laser-etched Kawasaki logo and black alumite finish, according to the company. The bike also adds an analog + digital instrument cluster, a remote rear spring preload adjuster, a subframe with built-in compatibility for Kawi’s new accessory saddlebag mounts and optional Kawasaki Quick Release 29-liter hard saddlebags.
The 2014 649cc Versys now comes with ABS brakes, designed to make the bike more versatile.
For 2014, the Teryx receives a larger 783cc digital fuel-injected 90-degree V-twin with 20 percent improvement in fuel economy. It also includes Kawasaki’s Automatic Power-drive System CVT with Centrifugal Clutch. The newest Teryx also has fully-adjustable FOX Podium piggyback reservoir shocks, a super strong double-X frame designed with integrated ROPS cage, new secure-latching doors painted to match the vehicle and new bodywork and aggressive styling. Also available is the Teryx Camo, with special upgrades, including high-intensity LED headlights, a Handy Cab roof/sun top and premium Realtree APG HD camouflaged bodywork. The Teryx LE model includes high-intensity LED headlights, a high-strength steel brush guard, lightweight cast aluminum wheels, a Handy Cab roof/sun top, premium candy-colored limed green bodywork with automotive quality paint, color-matched shock springs and suspension arms, and three-tone high-backed bucket seat covers. Each is backed by the Kawasaki Strong 3-year Limited Warranty.
On the water, Jet Ski fans can enjoy a barrage of new models, starting with the 2014 Ultra 310X. Upgraded for the new model year are its supercharged 1,498cc DOHC inline four-cylinder engine with 310 hp and its impeller, which has a revised three-blade design, giving the PWC greater initial acceleration. It also features new instrumentation including a new fuel consumption function, a revised boost meter scale, riding modes, external water and air temperature, clock, time, trip and hour meters, tachometer (in digital or graph displays), speedometer and max speed functions.
In addition to receiving the same upgrades as the Ultra 310X, the Jet Ski Ultra 310X SE has a new Sportseat with a special support bolster and a grippy KX motocross-like seat cover, along with aggressive graphics.
The Ultra 310R offers extreme performance with upgrades similar to the 310X, but adding a KX motocross-style electro-polished stainless steel handlebar and a 12-position handlebar mount.
Kawasaki’s 2014 Jet Ski Ultra 310 LX offers a luxurious three-passenger ride with the updated engine and impeller of the other models, however it adds creature comforts, such as a new JETSOUND audio system, a heat-resistant seat cover that keeps riders and passengers cooler and Hydroturf striped pattern deck matting for a classy look and superior grip.
