Improvement in the PWC market this summer carried momentum through to the fall as sales of personal watercraft improve into the final quarter of the year, according to the latest data from Info-Link Technologies.
Though PWC sales represent a smaller portion of the overall boat market, sales of PWC in Bellwether states, which represent a roughly half of the U.S. boat market, geographically dispersed, were up 7 percent year-over-year during the month of October. This was a 1.3 percentage point increase over September sales numbers, leading to the sixth straight month of market growth for PWC.
Sales across all states, which is available through June, were also positive with PWC sales growing by 2.5 percent year-over-year. This was the first positive month of sales across all boating states going back to 2006.
Sales of 15-foot and greater powerboats rose 12 percent during the month of October for Bellwether states compared to the previous year, pushing another month of positive sales growth for the market that began in April of this year.
