Gibbs Sports Amphibians to reach powersports dealers

Powersports dealers will be the target sellers of the Gibbs Sports Amphibians, set to be available for consumer purchase later this year. Gibbs Technologies will unveil the products at a demo event in the Detroit area on Sunday. Powersports Business Associate Editor Liz Hochstedler will be on hand to see what it’s all about, and more importantly, see how dealers can capitalize on the land-and-water-friendly vehicles. The high-speed Amphibians operate on both land and water, and a select group of powersports dealers have already signed on to carry the vehicles.

The Quadski doubles as an ATV/PWC. It’s capable of traveling up to 50 mph on land and water.

The Aquada resembles an open-top sports car on land and has enough power to pull a water skier when it takes on the water. It complies with appropriate marine and road safety regulations. Entry to the water is via beach, boat ramp, slipway or directly from the water’s edge. The wheels automatically rise with the press of a button. As the accelerator is pressed, nearly a ton of thrust pushes the Aquada onto the plane. The process takes less than 12 seconds, and the Aquada can plane at over 30 mph.
