Broken ribs no match for NPA’s Amstutz

Ten broken ribs in 16 different places from a motorcycle accident last week couldn’t keep Justyn Amstutz away from Dealer Expo in Indianapolis.

Amstutz, an National Powersport Auctions partner, arrived in Indy on Friday and oversaw a wildly successful auction of 150 powersports to close Saturday’s event. But on the flight in from San Diego, Amstutz only sat for the takeoff and descent. Otherwise, he was on his feet.

Even so, Amstutz managed to present an informative educational seminar at Dealer Expo titled “The Economy, Financing and Pre-Owned Powersports.”

Amstutz first asked dealers the following question: “What Would You Attempt if You Know You Wouldn’t Fail?” Among the driving forces for dealer success, Amstutz said, is the ability for dealerships to get to know their customers.

“You’ll learn more from the customer that doesn’t spend a time in your store than the one that does,” said Amstutz, who also moderates a 20-group. “Find out why they left without spending a dime so that it doesn’t happen again. Meet them in the parking lot. Stop them on the way out the door. Get to know them and find out what they wanted, what they didn’t buy, and why.”
