MIC names new associate general counsel

Attorney Alexander Berger has been named the new associate general counsel for the Motorcycle Industry Council, the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America, the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Berger, a motorcycle rider with more than 20 years of legal experience, will work with the associations’ general counsel and government relations office.

“Alex is an outstanding addition to the associations’ legal and government relations team,” said Erik Pritchard, the associations’ general counsel. “His professional experience and skill set will help him successfully serve the industry and the associations’ Boards of Directors and Trustees.”

Berger earned his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law. His prior experience includes commercial litigation at a national law firm, in-house counsel for a network security services company, and running his own litigation and consulting firm in the Washington, D.C., area. Berger will be based at the MIC’s government relations office in Arlington, Va.

“Powersports has been in my blood since age 12,” Berger said. “This year I get to introduce my 8-year-old son to trail riding, and at the same time focus my career on this great industry. I appreciate the confidence placed in me.”

“Alex’s legal background will be valuable in our advocacy efforts, and adding more expertise to our office will provide our member companies with a stronger voice in Congress and with regulatory agencies,” said Kathy Van Kleeck, senior vice president, government relations for the associations.
