Buffalo Chip TT race named Best Event

American Flat Track has presented the Sturgis Buffalo Chip with a major new “Best Event of the Year” Award on October 8 at the organization’s annual award banquet held in Temecula, CA for the Buffalo Chip TT race presented by Indian Motorcycle.

The event electrified motorcycle enthusiasts from around the globe in the world-famous Buffalo Chip amphitheater on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017. Designed by seven-time Grand National Champion Chris Carr, the track includes some of the most thrilling elements on the circuit, such as right hand turns and jumps, all calculated to create intense racing excitement. Racers and spectators alike enjoyed the wholly extraordinary and exhilarating race.

The award was presented to Buffalo Chip owner Rod Woodruff at the Temecula, CA banquet on October 8.

“The AFT races at the Buffalo Chip took motorcycle racing to a whole new level and right into the heart of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally,” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “The Buffalo Chip TT, the first ever to be held at the world’s biggest motorcycle festival, was an incredible racing event deserving of this award. We are looking forward to even more heart-stopping racing action at the Chip in 2018.”

Immediately following the races, crews transformed the track area back into the Wolfman Jack Main Stage infield in anticipation of a world-class performance by Shinedown.

“We are incredibly honored to receive this prestigious new award,” said Rod Woodruff, Buffalo Chip president. “The partnership with American Flat Track opened a whole new world of professional racing for the Buffalo Chip and our guests. The TT course carved out of the middle of the Chip’s amphitheater not only made for the most unique motorcycle racing on earth but also the wildest concert warm-up the world has ever seen.”

The Buffalo Chip TT will take place on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018.
