RevZilla CEO, co-founder Bucci stepping aside, staying on board

RevZilla announced that Anthony Bucci, a co-founder and current Chief Executive Officer of RevZilla, is transitioning out of his position as CEO, effective January 13, 2017. RevZilla co-founder and Chief Operating Officer, Matthew Kull, will be interim CEO. An executive search is underway. As a founder of the company, Bucci has been part of RevZilla’s leadership since 2007; he will remain on the board of Comoto Holdings, which owns RevZilla and Cycle Gear.

Bucci is transitioning out of the day-to-day operations of RevZilla, but will remain a cornerstone of the company’s media ecosystem from both sides of the camera. RevZilla’s original content has educated consumers, creating a thriving digital community and becoming a go-to editorial resource within the industry since its inception in 2009. From his board role, Bucci will also continue to help propel the business by contributing to strategic digital, product and customer roadmaps.

“As I looked towards RevZilla’s future — which I believe has incredible potential — I recognized that the best approach for continued growth and expansion is a broader executive playbook, which begins with my passing the torch,” said Anthony Bucci, co-founder and outgoing CEO of RevZilla. “I believe this is the right strategic decision for the next stage of the company, but our customers and the RevZilla family should rest assured that I will continue to remain a force behind our cause. I could not be more proud of the ongoing success of RevZilla, our team, and the enthusiasm of our customers, all of which have had a global impact on our industry over a very short time.”

“Anthony has been a great leader of RevZilla, laying the foundation for us to be the next generation resource for motorcycle enthusiasts,” said Matthew Kull, co-founder and COO of RevZilla. “Over the years, Anthony has literally brought the RevZilla brand to life for our team and customers. This transition will enable him to continue to do so while helping the company bring in the next level of leadership to support further growth of the business. Thanks to his efforts, the company’s outlook is bright as we seek to capitalize on our brand’s full potential at an even more rapid pace.”

Bucci and co-founders Kull and Chief Technology Officer Nick Auger have spent the past nine years rapidly growing RevZilla, which is now the world’s largest eCommerce destination for motorcycle apparel, parts and accessories.

The company also reaffirmed its commitment to providing its leading eCommerce experience to all of its customers.

RevZilla saw strong growth in 2016 and projects that growth to continue into 2017 and beyond. In the last 12 months, the company hired 75 employees, bringing the total number of employees to 219, with 20 open positions remaining. The company expects to hire another 50 employees in 2017.

RevZilla was recently ranked the #1 medium-sized company on Fortune’s Best Places to Work in Retail in 2016, the fourth Fortune ranking RevZilla has received in a one-year span. This follows the company’s ranking of 44th on Fortune’s list of 100 Best Medium Workplaces, 10th on Fortune’s 100 Best Places to Work for Millennials and 5th on Fortune’s 100 Best Places to Work in Retail in 2015.
