America’s PowerSports sold to CMG PowerSports

Once the second largest power sports group in the country, America’s PowerSports, Inc. sold to CMG PowerSports, Inc. this week. Comprised of both Harley-Davidson and multi-line import stores, APS, as it is more commonly known, peaked in 2008 with 20 dealerships and $230 million in revenue.

The company, headquartered in Allen, Texas, sold its five remaining dealerships to CMG, led by longtime automotive and motorcycle dealer William Coulter and his partners Mark Tkach and Robert Dodson.

The company’s operations will be led by Robert Dodson, a 20-year veteran in the industry with experience in both the H-D and import arenas. Dodson, a former partner/operator and VP of Operations for the company, plans to restore APS to its place as a well-respected, top-performing dealer group. Coulter, Tkach and Dodson have more than 70 years of combined experience in the industry, a history of developing talent and a reputation as the best in the business.

“My partners and I are extremely excited about this opportunity,” stated Coulter. “These are five very nice stores in great communities. We hope to bring much-needed stability to the staff and the riding community in these areas after a lengthy sales process. I am confident that under Robert’s leadership, these stores will be performing at a high level once again.”

The new APS will continue to operate in the Allen, Texas area going forward.
