News Release

The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame is pleased to welcome American Honda as a Platinum Sponsor for the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame’s 2015 induction ceremony and Suzuki Motor of America as the presenting sponsor for the AMA Hall of Fame VIP Reception. The reception is Saturday, Oct. 17, prior to the induction ceremony for the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 2014, during the American International Motorcycle Expo at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

“The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame boasts a long and distinguished list of racers and innovators who made their mark with Honda motorcycles,” said Jeff Massey, AMA chief operations officer. “We’re thrilled that American Honda is continuing its loyal support of the Hall of Fame and helping promote motorcycling’s heritage at one of motorcycling’s most important events.”

“We are very proud to continue our involvement with the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame,” said Chuck Boderman, vice president of American Honda. “It’s an important way of recognizing those who have helped make the motorcycle industry what it is today, and to encourage future generations to keep the spirit strong.”

The Class of 2015 includes road racing champion John Kocinski, 1997 World Superbike Champion on a Honda RC45, off-road racing champion Rodney Smith, former Harley-Davidson CEO Richard Teerlink, entrepreneur and industry patron John Parham, dirt tracker Alex Jorgensen and longtime Yamaha Motor Corp. U.S.A. race team manager Keith McCarty.

“We’re excited that Suzuki Motor of America is supporting this year’s induction ceremony and helping shine a spotlight on motorcycling’s proud heritage,” said Massey. “The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame features numerous riders who earned their titles on Suzuki motorcycles, and we’re pleased to welcome yet another in the Class of 2015: Off-road racing champion Rodney Smith.”

The public is invited to attend the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame VIP Reception, presented by Suzuki. Tickets are $90 per person and are available at www.motorcyclemuseum.org.

“Suzuki remains a proud and faithful supporter of professional and amateur racing in America, and we’re glad to help recognize the contributions of these motorcyclists,” said Steve Bortolamedi, communications manager for Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. “During his years racing Suzuki RM and RM-Z motorcycles, Rodney Smith was a stellar representative for Suzuki. He was a champion both on and off the track. This reception event is a great opportunity to meet with industry legends and share our enduring commitment to racing. Suzuki looks forward to helping nurture future Hall of Fame champions.”

The event also will honor three-time road racing World Champion Wayne Rainey as the 2015 AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Legend. Rainey, who himself was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999, is the president of MotoAmerica, the new home of the AMA Superbike Championship. Rainey earned one of his two AMA Superbike titles riding for Honda in 1987.

The 2015 Yamaha AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, presented by Harley-Davidson, is held in conjunction with AIMExpo. The AIMExpo is a diverse powersports event that is open to trade and media Oct. 15-16 and open to the general public Oct. 17-18.
