Weather tough on ORV, PWC sales start, analyst says

Despite a sluggish start owing to adverse weather for the ORV and PWC selling season, “most dealers comment that sales momentum has picked up and that the BRP product line is (generally) outperforming competitors,” according to a research note provided to Powersports Business by RBC Capital Markets analyst Gerrick Johnson.

Johnson recently completed a round of dealer visits at North American powersports dealers. The retail lineup included BRP, Polaris, Arctic Cat, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki and Harley-Davidson.

Johnson reports that weather “is still an issue and headwind in some areas, though (rain in Texas). BRP dealers we spoke with are happy with new innovations like the Outlander L line of ATVs, Maverick Xds Turbo side-by-side, and Spyder F3 roadster, which are helping the Can-Am brand slowly gain more recognition in the marketplace and share from competitors. The Sea-Doo Spark continues to drive growth in the PWC industry, with better year two availability helping dealers capture more potential sales.”

BMO continues to rate shares of BRP as “Outperform.”
