Power 50 dealer hires new GM

Adam Smith, Neil Noble and the team at Texoma Harley-Davidson, a 2013 Power 50 dealership, are pleased to welcome Joel Britt as the general manager of the store in Sherman, Texas.

Britt brings years of experience and knowledge to Texoma H-D. He’s spent the last five years in Alexandria, La., as the general manager of Renegade Harley-Davidson. Prior to that, he spent 12 years as the finance director of Hixson Auto Group in Alexandria/Monroe.

Britt began his love of riding at the age of 7, when he started racing dirt bikes, and he’s been riding ever since. Britt recently made the move to Texas with his wife Crystal. They have three kids, ages 12-23.

“We’re very excited to have Joel on board and know that this addition to the team is a perfect fit,” Texoma Harley-Davidson reported.

RideNow enters Kansas

RideNow Powersports recently purchased a 21,260-square-foot facility on 4.29 acres in Olathe, Kan., from Van Wall Equipment. John Nolan and Russell Pearson of Lee & Associates Kansas City represented RideNow in the $2.75 million sale, reported REJournals.com. The new store is home to Indian Motorcycle of Kansas City. Craig Keating has been brought on as the managing partner of the dealership, according to a RideNow newsletter.

Block Party

2013 Power 50 dealer Fay Myers Motorcycle World hosted a May 17 Block Party, its biggest open house event of the year. Visitors were treated to an extreme stunt show featuring Jason Britton, Eric Hoenshell and the Connet FMX jumpers, along with free food, entertainment and prizes.

Couple hosts ribbon-cutting at second dealership

Toni and Mark Christopher hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Mt. Cheaha Harley-Davidson in Oxford, Ala., on Saturday, May 17, reported The Anniston Star of Anniston, Ala. The couple purchased the dealership in November. The Harley store is the second in their lineup, as they opened Motorcycle Sports, a Polaris and Victory dealership, in Munford, Ala., in 1992.

Motorcycles of Manchester in New Hampshire is one of the latest Indian Motorcycle retailers. On May 3, consumers who bought an Indian bike got $250 off Indian apparel. The day also included free food and drinks, door prizes, demo rides and music.

Exhaust specials

Inglis Cycle Center (London, Ont.) will offer 2014 Yamaha demo rides on May 29. All Genuine Yamaha accessories and apparel is 15 percent off from May 29-31. Also, the dealership is offering 20 percent off full system and slip-on exhausts all summer, with brands including Hotbodies Racing, Cobra Performance Exhausts, Akrapovic, Pro Circuit, LA Choppers, Vance & Hines, FMF Racing, Yoshimura, Jardine Performance Products and Baron Custom Accessories.

Charity ride
Biker Bob’s Harley-Davidson Motown (Taylor, Mich.) will host its 14th annual Ride For A Reason on June 1. All proceeds benefit Penrickton Center for Blind Children. Entry fee is $20 per person ($25 same day registration). All bikes are welcome. The event features a police escort and is catered by Famous Dave’s. Cabela’s, Kohl’s, PNC, CMAC Transportation and the H.O.G. Motown Chapter Taylor Michigan are other sponsors. As part of the event, the dealership will be giving away a 2014 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special to benefit the Penrickton Center. Raffle tickets are $10 each or 6 for $50.

Firefighters benefit ride

Battley Harley-Davidson/Battley Cycles (Gaithersburg, Md.) will host its 1st Annual Motorcycle Run on May 31. The police-escorted event will benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, via the Germantown Volunteer Fire Department. A chili cook-off and live music will be featured at the destination, the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department. T-shirt, lunch and beverages are included.

Vintage bike photo contest

Hayden Honda Powerhouse (Kendallville, Ind.) is adding a photo contest to its annual Vintage Motorcycle Show. Customers can enter a photo of themselves with their bike via Facebook. Bikes must be older than 1989 models. Facebook fans will vote for the best photo, with the winner receiving a $50 gift card to the dealership. The Vintage Motorcycle Show is June 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

$500 gift card drawing

2 Brothers Powersports (Onalaska, Wis.) is hosting its 10-Year Anniversary Celebration from May 10-31 with 10 percent off one safety item; 15 percent off two safety items; and 20 percent off three safety items, including helmets, jackets, riding pants and gloves. Customers can come to the store to enter a drawing for a $500 gift card and HJC helmet.
