CycleTrader.com employees volunteer for United Way event

Last Friday, employees of CycleTrader.com and its parent company Dominion Enterprises put down their laptops and rolled up their sleeves to make a lasting impact on their communities during the United Way’s 22nd Annual Day of Caring.

A record-breaking 170 employees from Dominion Enterprises’ Norfolk, Va., headquarters spent the day working at various project sites for agencies like ForKids, Habitat for Humanity and the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.

For the last fifteen years, Dominion Enterprises has participated in the United Way Day of Caring to give back to the community in a variety of ways.

“It has become an important part of our corporate culture,” said Paige Bouma, CycleTrader.com General Manager and Dominion Enterprises United Way Committee Chair.

According to Susan Blake, Dominion Enterprises Vice President of Human Resources, all volunteer spots were full within 24 hours of opening participation registration.

“Since 1998, more than 900 Dominion Enterprises volunteers have participated in the Day of Caring. Over the past five years, Dominion’s United Way campaign has been among the top five in our community. The company and its employees embody the true spirit of corporate philanthropy in so many ways. We’re proud to have them as a partner,” said Pam Smith-Rodden, Vice President of Communication and Marketing for the United Way of South Hampton Roads.

CycleTrader.com and Dominion Enterprises will follow the United Way Day of Caring with an employee fundraising event. All 750 home office employees will spend the day at Harbor Park to “Hit a Homerun for Our Community.”
