Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series staying put in Arizona

Lucas Oil and the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series presented by GEICO are pleased to announce they have finalized a 5-year agreement with the Gila River Indian Community to continue bringing the world’s best short course off-road racing to Wild Horse Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona.

The facility was formerly called Firebird International Raceway.

“This is terrific news,” series director Ritchie Lewis said. “It’s a good spot for us and we’ve had some great racing there. We’re looking forward to building on that tradition and strengthening our relationship with the great fans and businesses in the Chandler area.”

The track has been a fixture on the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series schedule and was the site of this season’s opening event March 15-17. It has been closed since March 30 while undergoing reorganization and repairs and will reopen soon under new management.

Dick Hahne, a former Daytona International Speedway executive, has been hired to oversee the facility for the Gila River Indian Community.

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series presented by GEICO is supported by a potent marketing concept known as “Team Lucas” whose members include Lucas Oil Products Inc., E3 Spark Plugs, General Tire, GEICO, Canidae All Natural Pet Food, MAVTV-American Real, Speedco Truck Lube and Tire, Optima Batteries, Toyota, iON Cameras, LoanMart and Protect The Harvest.

Additional sponsorship is provided by Rockstar Energy, 4 Wheel Parts, Lunarpages, ReadyLIFT, Mickey Thompson Tires, Team Associated and Magna Flow.
