Norton receives EPA approval

British OEM Norton Motorcycles has earned the Environmental Protection Agency’s Certificate of Conformity for its 2013 Commando Series of motorcycles, the company announced.

The certification, which approves the Commando 961 Café Racer, 961 Sport and 961 SE models, is the first approval sought by Norton in the U.S. It follows Norton’s September announcement that the company had successfully carried out durability testing to ensure compliance with EPA and California Air Resource Board’s exhaust, noise and evaporative emissions standards. CARB review and approval typically comes two to three months after the EPA certification.

Norton’s factory at the Donnington Park Racing Circuit in the United Kingdom is already prepared to begin production of models for the U.S. and Canada.
