Nelson’s Speed Shop reopens following June fire

Nelson’s Speed Shop in Greenville, Mich., has restarted business following a June 22 fire, and owner Jack Nelson vows to rebuild.

Nelson has begun taking orders in person while the power and phone lines at the shop are being repaired. Meanwhile, the service department is operating out of the dealership’s other two warehouses, WZZM-TV reported.

“We’ve got a new outdoor showroom, and we’re looking forward to going forward,” Nelson told the TV station.

The dealership’s annual Sno-Motion show will go on as scheduled Aug. 24-25, and the rebuilt dealership is expected to open in late winter. This is the second time Nelson’s has had to rebuild following a fire; in 2001 the dealership was destroyed by arson. Neither state nor federal authorities have ruled out arson in the latest blaze.
