The Bike That Social Media Built

House of Harley in Milwaukee threw the design of a special Harley-Davidson to be sold at auction for charity to the social masses, inviting anyone who visited its website from Jan. 9-Feb. 25 to vote for what the future bike would look like.

After nearly 1,500 votes were cast, social media users voted to customize the new Iron 883 with a high bar bobber frame with a patriotic paint scheme, forward controls, a brown distressed leather 48-styled seat, a tall sissy bar, and a short shots exhaust system.

House of Harley invited visitors to come to the House of Harley Blog every week and pitch their votes, helping draw in a steady stream of visitors each week, and drawing them in to decide on the latest feature.

“Like anything subjective, it’s hard to know what you’re going to get when you open things up for a vote,” House of Harley said in a post on the company’s blog. “But in the case of our Bike That Social Media Built campaign, everything magically came together to create a one of a kind masterpiece. Thanks to all who participated in the vote, and might we add, you have impeccable taste!”

The bike was unveiled at the Milwaukee Auto Show and is available to be viewed through the end of the show on March 4. After the show, the bike will be donated at auction to Fisher House Wisconsin, which provides a “home away from home” for families at the VA in Milwaukee.
