Honda reveals 2012 NC700X
Honda has unveiled another motorcycle for 2012, the NC700X, with adventure-bike styling, an all-new engine and light and nimble handling.
The NC700X features long-travel suspension, abundant torque and a chassis design that “emphasizes mass centralization and a lower center of gravity,” according to Honda. It’s available with a six-speed gearbox or the option of an automatic Dual Clutch Transmission with a Combined Antilock Braking System.
“This is a really exciting release for 2012 that brings a great new option to Honda’s wide selection of motorcycles and ATVs for the new year,” Honda powersports press manager Bill Savino said in the release. “This is a fun machine that will appeal to all kinds of riders, and with the option of having an automatic Dual Clutch Transmission for unrivaled ease of use, this bike will open the door to many potential newcomers to the sport as well. We are really proud of what the NC700X brings to the table as a motorcycle, but we’re even more enthusiastic about how this bike can help expand interest in motorcycling for a whole new generation of riders.”
Honda has also prepared a variety of accessories for the bike. The NC700X will be available this summer with an MSRP starting at $6,999.
Also in Honda news, The Japan Times reported that Honda Motor Co. officials said the company will transfer about 400 of the 3,200 employees of its Ozu, Kumamoto, Japan, motorcycle production factory to its four-wheel plants within the country. The move comes as Honda begins shifting its motorcycle manufacturing offshore as the yen’s value rises.
Production at the Ozu, Kumamoto, factory is well below is capacity of 500,000 units, the newspaper reported.
