S&S discontinues IRP policy, adds MAP policy

S&S Cycle has announced it is discontinuing its five-year-old Internet Reseller Policy (IRP) and replacing it with a Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policy in response to the changing e-commerce market.

S&S said in a press release that the IRP “limited the ability for our resellers to effectively market and sell S&S and Crane products against competitors supporting online sales.”

The new MAP policy, effective Jan. 2, requires retailers to be in compliance by March 31. The MAP policy requires all S&S retailers to promote and sell S&S parts on e-commerce sites at MSRP. It applies to all advertised pricing, including in print, radio, TV, Internet media and auction websites.

The Dealer Center section of the S&S Cycle website includes communication about the new MAP policy as well as a form that retailers can use to report advertising that doesn’t conform to the policy. Click here to read the new policy.

“We appreciate the continued support of our dealer and distributor network and are confident that this policy change will provide an opportunity to increase their sales while protecting the price integrity of S&S and Crane products,” S&S Cycle said in the release.
