Report: PWC sales increase in September

Sales of personal watercraft increased in September, according to the latest Info-Link Bellwether report. This report tracks sales of powerboats across the country based on new U.S. boat registrations on a rolling 12-month basis. Bellwether states are geographically dispersed states representing roughly half of the U.S. boat market (varies by market segment and time of year).

Boat sales slowed slightly in September when compared to August, when sales were up 4 percent. The growth rate has been mostly declining since its peak of 11 percent in 2016.

Tow boats, personal watercraft and outboard boats led the way in September. Tow boats increased by 6 percent, personal watercraft 5 percent and outboard boats 4 percent.

Sportfish boat sales increased by 1 percent, down from August’s sales. The sterndrive/jet segment was the only category to decline, with sales down 5 percent from the previous year.
