Pirelli brings home three awards

We’ve all heard that certain things seem to happen in threes. For Pirelli, that means three awards given over the past few months. Pirelli recent was honored as a design award winner for its 2013 annual report, while its North American arm was named a reputable company and a top-performing supplier by Ford.

Annual Report design award

Pirelli’s 2013 annual report, “Spinning the wheel,” which involved 10 international talents who were invited to reinvent the wheel through their respective disciplines, has won two design and graphics prizes. The Pirelli annual report, in fact, received the Gold Trophy Award, one of the highest levels of recognition at the world level awarded by the International Design Awards (IDA), and the third prize in the Annual Report category just assigned by the jury of the European Design Awards in Istanbul.

The two prizes are an acknowledgement of Pirelli’s capacity for innovation, which has forever been characterized not only by its products but also its methods of communication. The 2013 annual report developed with Cacao Design, which combines intricate graphics and a touch of originality, is presented vertically with a tilt of 45 degrees, poised on its lower right corner, a balancing act made possible thanks to the die-cutting into the three volumes and their container.

With graphics jointly developed with the Cacao Design agency, the 2013 annual report was selected from among thousands of volumes from around the world, and the recognition confirms Pirelli’s excellence in the areas of design and communication. In 2012, Pirelli was also awarded the Certificate of Typographic Excellence for its innovative typographical solutions.

In particular, in the case of the International Design Awards, which has a jury including some of the most influential names in design at the global level, the Gold Trophy Award was given to the 2013 Pirelli annual report from a selection of over 1,000 entrants from 52 countries, awarding its refined, creative, functional and innovative design.

The jury of the European Design Award — made up of the editors of the most renowned European design publications — also awarded Pirelli’s 2013 annual report with the bronze medal in the Annual Report category, selected from hundreds of entries from 21 countries.

Pirelli’s recently published 2014 Annual Report was also produced and developed in collaboration with Cacao Design. The recounting of tires through art was entrusted in this case to three young street artists of international fame: The images of their works are included in an annual report which this year places all three elements of the report (financial report, governance report and sustainability report) into a single volume, as well as the Pirelli company profile and summarized data of the last year’s activities. Reputable company

Pirelli Tire North America has been named among the most reputable companies in the U.S., according to the annual US RepTrak 100 list released by Reputation Institute and published in Forbes. The US RepTrak rankings measure the public’s perception of companies based on seven dimensions: innovation, leadership, governance, citizenship, workplace, performance and products/services.

The list of America’s 100 most reputable companies is compiled annually by Reputation Institute, the world’s foremost research and advisory firm focused solely on corporate reputations.

“Pirelli is honored to be a part of the US RepTrak 100 list for the first time ever. This reflects our commitment to the U.S. market, where we have been increasingly focused on new product development and launches specifically for North American drivers and manufacturers. This draws from our renowned technology, innovation and product know-how that we have built over 140 years,” said Pierluigi Dinelli, CEO and chairman of Pirelli Tire North America.

The RepTrak database is normative, examining 15 stakeholder groups in more than 25 industries and more than 50 countries for more than 7,000 companies. The 2015 US RepTrak 100 examines perceptions of companies by the U.S. general public based on over 70,000 interviews.

“The top U.S. companies proactively manage their reputations by investing as much in corporate dimensions like governance, citizenship and workplace as they do in their products and services,” said Brad Hecht, chief research officer at Reputation Institute.

“Companies with strong reputations are 15 times more likely to attract better talent, and they reap significant financial benefits, too. The most reputable companies see a stock performance that is two times better than the overall market, and they benefit from a 6.5 percent increase in recommendations every time they improve their RepTrak score by five points.”

In addition to its top 100 US ranking, Pirelli also came in at 38th place in the global list compiled by Reputation Institute — the World’s Most Reputable Companies in 2015.
