SnoDeo event leads to sales

New Hampshire Arctic Cat dealer benefits from annual ‘carnival’

There’s no denying that Arctic Cat’s impressive list of new models for the 2011-12 season made an impact on the company’s bottom line. Just check out the earnings report for company’s fiscal third quarter in the Finance section of this edition.

Livingston’s Arctic Cat in Hillsboro, N.H., has been selling Cat since 1968, and bills itself as the world’s largest Arctic Cat dealer. Suffice to say, the Livingston widened its lead in 2011.

“This is the first year I’ve ever sold this many at retail. We’ve sold over 200 new sleds,” dealer principal Steve Livingston said at the end of January. “We’re definitely quite a bit up from last year. We sold 176 all of last year. The 2012 lineup made all the difference. In the preseason we went from 20 sold last year to 76 sold this year.”

Livingston reports that the F8 and XF8, along with all turbo models, have been hot sellers.

Livingston’s Arctic Cat in Hillsboro, N.H., has seen exceptional sales of the 2012 Arctic Cat ProCross XF 800.

“The ProCross F 800 and XF 800 are so much lighter. They’re really cool looking and very fast. They’re also better on gas. They do everything better,” Livingston said.

Livingston says the new 2012 Arctic Cat lineup will remain popular through the region’s 20th annual SnoDeo, sponsored by the Swift Diamond Riders club. The March 2-3 event at Coleman State Park in Stewartstown, N.H., allows riders to demo ride sleds from all four OEMs. Dubbed by SnowGoer magazine as “One of the Top 10 Must Experience Snowmobile Events,” the carnival atmosphere also serves as a sales tool for Livingston.

“It doesn’t suck for me to be there,” he laughed. “We’ll bring 15-20 sleds to our tent for display, and another couple of demos to add to what Arctic Cat brings. We’ll get, on average, 10 sled sales out of it. I’m out there talking to our customers, seeing if they have issues with any sleds, asking how they’ve liked the sled.”

Arctic Cat models available to ride include the 2012 Arctic Cat F1100 and XF1100 in the new ProCross chassis, plus the TZ1 Touring, F5 LXR and Bearcat Z1 in the Twin Spar chassis.
