NPA auction expands at Dealer Expo
Bike giveaway, VIP lounge also among upgrades to benefit dealers
National Powersport Auctions is upping the ante in Year 2 of its live auction at Dealer Expo in Indianapolis.
This year at Indy, NPA will be auctioning 150 bikes — 75 metric and 75 Harley-Davidson. That’s up from a mix of 100 bikes in the debut auction a year ago in Indianapolis.
A mock auction by NPA starts at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, with NPA’s live auction starting at 4 p.m. Vehicle previews are available at npauctions.com.
That’s only the beginning, however. A bike giveaway and a VIP room are among the amenities added by NPA for 2012. It’s all in an effort to educate dealers about the benefits of pre-owned.
“The last two years have been difficult for everyone, so we’re offering dealers some fun as well as every opportunity to improve their business,” NPA partner, executive vice president Justyn Amstutz said. “Everybody knows who NPA is, but do they really know what we can do to generate revenue for their dealerships? That’s our message this year — ‘You’ve seen our ads, you know who we are, but do you really know what we can do for you?’”
With that in mind, dealers attending Dealer Expo will have plenty of options to become more familiar with the company’s tools.
“We’re going to make it as convenient as possible to spend time with our staff to learn how to liquidate trades, turn used inventory and utilize values guides, in addition to taking advantage of our new NPA Dealer Financing Program,” Amstutz said.
NPA and NADA partnered with Triumph and Roland Sands Design to build a custom 2010 Triumph Thruxton. The Thruxton, on display at the Dealer Expo registration booth, will be given away at 7 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Dealer Expo Industry Party at Lucas Oil Stadium, and the winner must be present. Raffle tickets will be available at the NPA VIP room, (138-139, across from the Dealer Expo entrance) and at the NADA booth (4839).
NPA registered dealers will have access to the NPA VIP room for the duration of Dealer Expo. Drinks, custom bikes, a DJ and motorcycle memorabilia are among the amenities expected in the VIP room, sponsored by Red Bull. Tickets to the Red Bull Indianapolis MotoGP also be available in the VIP room. Each attending dealership will be eligible for a free ticket to the 2012 Indy MotoGP.
“We’re excited about the feedback we’ve received from doubling the size of the auction,” Amstutz said. “Last year we signed up several hundred new dealers and the experience was amazing. It was a win-win for NPA and Dealer Expo. The auction brought in two-hundred-plus dealers that had never been to the show before, those new show registrations had never seen anyone’s booth before or attended the Expo. NPA also signed up a couple of hundred new auction dealers who had never done business with us. It was a win-win for NPA, Dealer Expo, other Expo participants and the dealers.”
Also this year, NPA Dealer Financing will also be offering special rates for the auction. The existing customer incentive is $60 for 60 days, which is half off the regular NPA Dealer Financing fee, and standard interest.
New dealers who sign up for NPA’s Dealer Financing Program will be offered instant approvals or quick applications during Dealer Expo for the time leading up to the auction on Saturday (10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday). The quick application lines of credit are capped at $25,000, and quick application dealers will gain access to the $60/60 days offer.
