KYMCO, Maxxis named top 100 Taiwan brands

KYMCO and Maxxis have been named two of the Top 100 Taiwan Brands in a contest held by the country’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).

To celebrate the 100th birthday of the Republic of China in Taiwan, the MOEA commissioned the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, a government-backed trade promoter, to choose the top 100 domestic enterprises in order to pay tribute to the companies and showcase Taiwan’s economic strength, according to a story in the Taiwan Economic News.

Eric Bondy, president and CEO of KYMCO USA, said the honor did not come as a shock to him. “We are pleased but certainly not surprised that KYMCO has been honored with recognition as one of Taiwan’s top 100 brands,” he said. “It’s clear that KYMCO pursues excellence in all phases of their business from design to manufacturing to distribution, and as a partner with KYMCO in the United States, we are very proud of our parent company.”

The top 100 brands were chosen from 498 entries from various industries. Though there are 1.25 million enterprises in Taiwan, most contract out their services and do not have their own brand, the newspaper reported. Taiwan’s government encourages companies to create their own brands and offers incentives for making the brands known worldwide.
