KTM announces new partnerships during meeting

In the midst of its dealer meeting in St. Paul, Minn., KTM has announced new partnerships with the American Motorcyclist Association, HMC Racing and Dunlop.

AMA members who are also KTM enthusiasts can new opt-in to an affinity program, which includes an exclusive KTM-themed AMA membership card.

“KTM and AMA affiliation are two passions that run deep in the hearts and minds of many of our customers,” said KTM North America president Jon-Erik Burleson (pictured). “Available exclusively through this program, this partnership offers a unique way for these customers and members to link those passions.”

The program takes effect July 1, and the card is available to owners of any model year KTM for no additional charge over the $39 annual membership fee. To enter into the KTM affinity program, AMA members need to call 800/262-5646 and identify themselves as KTM owners.

“KTM is the first of what we anticipate will be many other AMA affiliates that recognize the benefits of joining the AMA and providing their riders with the option of tailoring their AMA memberships to reflect their interests and loyalties,” AMA president and CEO Rob Dingman said.

KTM Motorsports and HMC Racing have also announced that they are formulating the first official KTM team in the AMA Pro Superbike Road Racing Championship. The team will compete at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (July 8-10), Virginia International Raceway (Aug. 12-14) and New Jersey Motorsports Park (Sept. 2-4). HMC Racing owner Mitch Hansen will lead the team, while Chris Fillmore will compete aborad the KTM 1190 RC8 R Race Spec motorcycle (pictured).

Also in KTM news, KTM Sportmotorcycle AG has selected Dunlop as an OEM tire supplier for key motocross and off-road motorcycles sold in North America. Dunlop will supply Geomax MX51 tires to KTM for fitment on its line of motocross models, the 250 SX-F, 350 SX-F and 450 SX-F; as well as its off-road models, including the 150 XC, 250 XC, 300 XC, 250 XC-F and 350 XC-F; plus the XC-W models: 200 XC-W, 250 XC-W, 300 XC-W, 250 XCF-W, 350 XCF-W, 450 XC-W and 500 XC-W.

“We are especially pleased that KTM has entered into this new working relationship with Dunlop,” Dunlop vice president Mike Buckley said in a Dunlop press release. “KTM motorcycles carry an outstanding reputation for performance, and we are confident that our Geomax MX51 tires will complement that performance envelope right off the showroom floor to bring even greater satisfaction to KTM riders.”

Burleson added, “As KTM continues to focus on the development of our core motocross and off-road bikes in North America, Dunlop was the perfect choice of tires to match the performance of the motorcycle and meet the expectations of the North American consumer. We hope this is the first step in a long relationship with Dunlop.”
