Yamaha releases 2012 bikes, scooters

The 2012 Star Motorcycles V Star 950 has been unveiled in the entry cruiser class. The air-cooled V-twin delivers plenty of distinctive, big-cruiser character and pulsing torque feel. Seat height is an extra-low 26.6 inches. The full-sized chassis has a long, low look and provides spacious comfort. Handling is sporty and responsive, great for curvy back roads and commuting around town as well as open-highway cruising.

The V Star 950 and V Star 950 Tourer achieve fuel economy up to an estimated 47 mpg* with a fuel tank that holds 4.5 gallons of gas. The 2012 V Star 950 comes with an MSRP of $8,490. The V Star 950 Tourer comes with an MSRP of $9,490. Both will be available at Star Motorcycles dealerships nationwide beginning in July.

Yamaha also has introduced the 2012 dual purpose XT250 and TW200. The XT250 has long-travel suspension and more than 11.2 inches of ground clearance under a seat only 31.9 inches from the ground. Electric start makes firing up the 249cc four-stroke effortless while the 245mm front disc and 203mm rear disc brakes combine to deliver superb stopping power on both paved and unpaved surfaces. The XT250 achieves fuel economy up to an estimated 73 mpg with a fuel tank that holds 2.4 gallons.

The 2012 XT250 comes with an MSRP of $5,090 and will be available in dealerships nationwide beginning in July.

A low seat and compact chassis help inspire confidence in anybody who rides the TW200, making it one of the most user-friendly on/off-road bikes on the market. Electric start and full street equipment mean it is super convenient to ride the TW200 just about wherever you need to go. The strong-pulling 196cc air-cooled, four-stroke single delivers torquey low and mid range power perfectly suited to off road exploring while the maintenance free CDI ensures precise, reliable spark for peak engine performance. The TW200 achieves fuel economy up to an estimated 78 mpg* with a fuel tank that hold 1.8 gallons. The 2012 TW200 comes with an MSRP of $4,490 and will be available in dealerships nationwide beginning in July.

The all-new 2012 Yamaha Zuma 50F is a tough, yet sporty 49cc scooter that makes going places fun, even commuting to work or school. It features a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, four-stroke engine that is powerful, quiet, and low-maintenance. Sharp new styling and twin headlights on this new model update the original “tough, off-road” image of the Zuma, while fat tires give that “go anywhere” look. In addition, the Zuma 50F achieves fuel economy up to an estimated 132 mpg. The all-new 2012 Zuma 50F comes with an MSRP of $2,490 and will be available in dealerships nationwide beginning in September.

The 2012 Majesty is a high-tech transportation unit that blurs the boundaries between scooter and motorcycle — highly utilitarian performance. The rugged, reliable and powerful 395cc liquid-cooled four- stroke engine and fully automatic transmission mean there is more than enough power to run at highway speeds, with room for two and plenty of storage space. The Majesty achieves fuel economy up to an estimated 50 mpg with a fuel tank that holds 3.7 gallons of gas. The 2012 Majesty comes with an MSRP of $6,750 and will be available in dealerships nationwide in August.
