Laconia Motorcycle Week creates sales

The 88th annual Laconia Motorcycle Week kicked off on Saturday with rain, but the weather has been mixed with some sun since then, and Laconia Harley-Davidson has already seen steady traffic.

“At Laconia Harley-Davidson, we’ve been busy — rain and shine,” owner Anne Deli told Powersports Business.

The first weekend, which is traditionally the slower of the two, brought in successful sales. “We were jammed all last weekend,” Deli said.

The upcoming weekend, which closes the nine-day event in Laconia, N.H., is expected to be even busier.

“We’re kind of bracing ourselves for a huge weekend, but we’re ready,” Deli said.

The dealership doesn’t count attendance of the event by riders in the street; rather, it focuses on sales, which are expected to do well. “We’re hoping we’re on track to be at the same level or beat last year,” Deli said.

The rally, which is sponsored by Progressive Insurance and Budweiser, includes bike racing, scenic tours and beer tents, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. Flat- and short-track racing at the New Hampshire International Speedway was added this year.
