Motorcycle brand recognized by moviegoers

Ducati matched Audi as the second most recognizable brand in movies in 2010, according to a study by Brandchannel.

Both companies received about 7 percent of the vote from moviegoers who participated in the survey. They were topped only by Apple, which received 25 percent of the vote.

Ducati appeared in No. 1 films “The Expendables,” “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” “Takers” and “Tron: Legacy.” The company said it did not pay for those placements, however a company representative told Brandchannel its appearance in movies was an “absolute win.” The rep also reported the company received a lot of feedback from its placements.

The Ducati brand also appeared in the film “Knight and Day” starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Brandchannel reports Cruise picked the HyperMotard to appear in the film, however many enthusiasts noticed the shell and logo belonged to Ducati, while the guts of the motorcycle came from Aprilia.
