Riding events announced

Two riding events have been announced this week, including the American Motorcyclist Association’s (AMA) Get Out and Ride! Month, and the annual Ride To Work Day.

The AMA’s month-long celebration begins April 1. Each week will have a different theme, and the themes include: Get Out And Ride Your Way!, Together!, For A Cause! and Smart!

“April is the perfect month to kickoff a celebration of the motorcycling lifestyle,” AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman said in a press release. “It’s been a long, cold winter, and motorcyclists across the country are enjoying these first warm days of spring. We invite motorcyclists everywhere to join us as we usher in another great season of on- and off-road riding.”

AMA members are invited to share their experiences at AmericanMotorcyclist.com, and winners with the best submissions will be selected weekly, with the best story being featured in American Motorcyclist magazine and on the website. The organization will share details of the campaign on its website, Facebook page and Twitter feed.

The 20th annual Ride To Work Day is set for Monday, June 20. On that day, motorcycle and scooter enthusiasts and rider organizations encourage fellow riders to ride to work. The event has been recognized by proclamation in more than 100 American cities.

“Riding on this day showcases the positive value of motorcycles and scooters for transportation. It is an economical, efficient and socially responsible form of mobility that saves energy, helps the environment and provides a broad range of other public benefits,” event organizer Andy Goldfine said in a press release.
