New consumer product safety database to be unveiled

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is creating a publicly accessible database that will provide information on the safety of consumer products regulated by the federal commission.

The database is required to be operational by March, according to a press release by the Motorcycle Industry Council government relations office.

The CPSC is holding a web conference to demonstrate the new database on Jan. 20 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

The web conference will demonstrate the form and process for filing a report of harm, the search function of the database and the manufacturer registration and comment features. Representatives will be able to register accounts on the new Business Portal at this web conference, according to the press release.
